Smurfing - erste Resets

Hey everyone,

Yesterday we reset the Ladder account of the #1 player on the Kane's Wrath Ladder because he had a second account in the top 100. Even though this account was #95, this is still treading on smurfing and ultimately is breaking the rule. Like we said, we are focusing on the top 100 ranks primarily and keeping a close eye in general on the top 1000. If you are in the top 100, I would strongly suggest you not play on a second account and push that account in to the top 100 as well. We had to take action on the #1 player to set an example that sportsmanship in this tournament is of the utmost importance.

That said, it has come to my attention that the #1 player's second account was being played by his brother. While we have no way of tracking this, the perception to anyone else is this is still smurfing. Anyone can say their brother or sister or friend is playing the other name on their serial key, but because there is no way possible for us to know if that is true or false, the same rule applies. So, while on one hand I would like to apologize to the #1 player for being victim to this, on the other, its an unfortunate consequence where we have to stick to the rule or else it won't be taken seriously.

We have thousands of players on the ladder, if you have a second or third account way down the ranks that you practice with once in a while, we are lenient about that. But when multiple accounts start impacting the top 1000, and more importantly the top 100, that is where we will take action. In general I would strongly suggest you:

-play with one and only one account on the ladder
-do not create multiple accounts for others to play under your Master Account


We are going to continue this season with this rule intact. If we find by the end of the season that it is not working, we will look to other solutions. But as far as I can tell, this rule is creating better sportsmanship and people are sticking to one account.

Situations like above will happen, but the rule takes precedence.

Thank you for understanding, this is really our effort to create a more level playing field and competitive atmosphere for EVERYONE on the ladder.

This rule creates opportunity, it doesn't diminish it.

p.s. - I hope to see our former #1 player work his way back up. He was absolutely legitimate and a very good player, and I don't think he will make the same unfortunate mistake again. Cut him some slack, the first one is always the hardest =)

Finde ich etwas hart. Die Art und Weise wie die Regel bekanntgemacht wurde ist auch einfach unzureichend.

Aber naja, er wurde jetzt öffentlich gehangen, damit sich erst gar niemand anderes mehr traut. Vielleicht hat es also zumindest einen positiven Abschreckungseffekt.

Joining The Ladder / Checking Match Results

To join this automated ladder simply enter either a 1v1 or a 2v2 “AutoMatch” game through the Command & Conquer 3: Kane' Wrath game client:

1) Launch the Game
2) Select the “Multiplayer” option from the in-game menu
3) Select “Online, then login using your game specific nickname and password (this is managed by EA.com, and is NOT tied in any way to Arena or GameSpy ID)
4) Once logged in, select "AutoMatch” and either “1v1” or 2v2”
5) The game will match you with an opponent of approximately the same rank / skill rating that you have
6) Once your game has completed, your nickname and the match results will be sent to the ladder automatically

You can check the ladder after any “auto match” you play to check results, view your overall match history and more. NOTE: The speed with which results are posted to the ladders may vary depending on the volume of games being played at any given time.

The Rules

With every game and sport in the world come "The Rules". These ladders are no different.

Disconnects:

Attempting to disconnect from a match in order to manipulate match results is forbidden. Frequent disconnectors will be punished with automatic rank resets. Persistent violators of this rule will be banned entirely from ladder play.

Point Boosting / Pushing:

Point boosting is not allowed. Playing one account against a frequent opponent who is purposefully losing games with the sole intent of boosting the other account's ladder rank is another easy way to have both accounts re-ranked or banned.

Trainers and Cheats:

Players using cheats or trainers on the game while in a skirmish map will lose their ladder rank and have their account information forwarded to EA for future reference. Exploiting any bugs which either hinder the enemy or give you an advantage over them are classed as cheats and will be dealt with in the same manner.

GameSpy ID & EA.com Accounts

The Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath uses EA.com’s account creation / login system for both gameplay and ladder results. Your in-game nickname will be sent to Arena’s ladders by the game, but your game account information will NOT be tied to any existing accounts on GameSpy Arena or GameSpy ID.

While you will be able to check your match results using your C&C3 nickname, you will not be able to use this info to log in to Arena. Arena login must be handled by creating a separate account through GameSpy ID. Click here for more info.

Wenn die #2 einen Smurf in den Top 100 gehabt hätte, wäre diese auch gebannt worden.

Es gibt kein "sicheres" smurfen. Auch das wird geahndet, selbst dafür hat EA Methoden, es herauszufinden.
