The further you are in the game more often they appear. As a melee assassin who didn't trained bows I highly regret it. Even if you beat the main storyline it is fun to continue. I find the side quests more fun than the main one anyway. Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood are up my alley. Another neat future is the finishing moves. With the boosted power attack perk dual wield decap dooku style is satisfying.
