For some reason .NET Framework has like never worked on my computer or never existed, causing lots of programs to not work. I've tried installing it several times over the course of several years, but it never installs right, it always gives some stupid error. Below is a screenshot of the error I got when trying to install it just now. How can I fix this and get my computer fully functional again?

IMPORTANT:

* If you have installed earlier pre-release versions of .NET Framework 3.5, then you must uninstall them prior to running this installation by using Add or Remove Programs.
