I was on Yahoo! Answers and I just made question when my entire computer turned off. I checked to see if any plugs were unplugged, but they weren't. I tried turning it back on, and the lights on the computer turned on, but it wouldn't work, the monitor didn't turn on, and I couldn't even open my CD-drive. This is most alarming, I don't know what is wrong or what I should do. I'm on my parent's computer right. Could it have something to do with me downloading Earth & Beyond from this website ( http://home.no/sudndalen/earthandbeyond/index.htm ) about 30 minutes ago (I didn't install it yet though). I have had my computer since November 4, 2006, and I got it new then. I have never had this problem before, with that computer, or any others, please help!

there are serveral reasons that may cause your PC to "what the f. why'd you boot ?!?!?".

I do think the problem is caused by your power supply. It's just broken :)

But, before changing it, you may try to change your RAM-Modules (just take out one module, try again, then the next and so on). Also the problem may be caused by your videocard. Just take it out, your system will (!) boot up without your videocard connected if anything else is okay (in 640x480 or something) with vesa-drivers.

There are serveral more reasons - maybe your southbridge is getting to hot - but, just try the steps mentioned above. But i realy do think it's your power supply.

I unplugged the power cord, and that made it completely unresponsive. Later I identified and corrected the problem, which was a whole bunch of dust in there. I took a can of compressed air, and went to town. It works way faster now (or atleast the same).

so it just have gotten to hot :)

everythings working correctly now or are there any more problems ?
