Hey everyone, my name is Jim Vessella and I am the Lead Producer on Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. I wanted to take this opportunity on Tacitus Thursday to give you guys some exclusive information about our new Global Conquest Mode. Global Conquest Mode is a fully playable bonus feature in Kane's Wrath, designed for the most veteran C&C players, and will add hours of unique replayability to the expansion pack in addition to the full single player campaign.
Global Conquest Mode allows players to command one of the three factions (GDI, Nod, and Scrin) as they fight towards world domination. Each faction is represented during the game, which means there will always be three players, you and two AI-controlled factions. Although you can only choose from the three factions, you will have access to all the sub-faction units from that side. Don’t forget, for the first time in C&C, we’re adding 6 new sub-factions to the base game with a load of new units, all of which you can command in Global Conquest Mode.
There are two ways to win in the Global Conquest Mode. First, players can achieve a Military Victory by destroying all enemy bases on the world map. This is easier said than done, as the AI is resilient and adept at expanding their empire. Second, players can work to fulfill their faction’s Alternate Victory Condition. Each faction has a unique victory condition that plays into their fiction, and we’ll chat more about these in an upcoming feature.
To accomplish these victory conditions, players will have to utilize two key game elements – bases and strike forces. Bases are the foundation of your army, and much like the tactical game, can be upgraded over time to unlock new technology, units, and support powers. As bases reach their highest tier level, they can also create powerful strategic structures like Superweapons and Epic Unit factories. Most importantly, a base is the primary tool for creating strike forces.
Strike forces are armies that you will be able to create and customize, and will consist of your favorite C&C3 and Kane's Wrath units. Strike force tier level and cost will be dependant on the units you place in the force. For example, a strike force composed of Mammoth Tanks and Zone Troopers is quite expensive, and will require a tier 3 base to build, while a more scout-focused strike force of Attack Bikes and Militants can be built from a basic tier 1 base. Strike forces can also be unique to sub-factions, so as Nod you can have a Marked of Kane strike force composed of Cyborgs and Tiberium Troopers. Kane’s Wrath will ship with over a dozen default strike forces for each faction, but I’m personally really excited to read on the boards about the various strike forces that the fans come up with! Who knows, maybe this will be an ongoing addition to Command School.
The customizable strike force system allows players to choose any combination of units when designing their armies. Players start by choosing the faction/sub-faction, then pick the specific units and quantities they’d like to have, and conclude by naming the strike force. Creating a portfolio of custom strike forces is a great way to ensure you’re ready for all types of engagements.
Of course, Command & Conquer is all about battles, and there will be plenty of action in Global Conquest Mode. As battles occur between strike forces and bases, players will have the option to auto-resolve or fight the battle in real-time. Choosing auto-resolve will simulate the battle at the strategic level and determine a winner based on stats and the composition of each force. Opting for real-time will launch both players into a skirmish game, with each side starting with the same units and structures they had at the global strategic layer. Fighting in real-time is a great way for an underpowered army to emerge victorious by utilizing superior tactical skill.
Global Conquest Mode was something we constructed for our most dedicated and veteran commanders out there and we hope that they will enjoy this new and exciting way to enhance their Kane’s Wrath experience. It’s really a great value on top of the new campaign, sub-factions, cinematics, and multiplayer maps. While this was simply a high level overview of the feature, stay tuned to CommandandConquer.com for more intricate details in the weeks to come!

Deutsche Zusammenfassung:
