1. Competition - General

The Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars Ladder Competition (the “Competition”) is a competition of skill to determine the best “Solo” player of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars on our 1v1 ranked ladder. The top 3 ranking players on our 1v1 ranked ladder at the end of the Competition will be awarded prizes.

The Competition will open on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 1:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (“EDT”) and will close on December 17, 1PM EDT.

EDT means Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”) less 8 hours, and Central European Time (“CET”) less 9 hours.

2. Restrictions on Participation in Competition

The Competition is only open to residents of the following countries meeting the minimum age identified: Australia (age 13), Brazil (age 13), Canada (age 13), Denmark (age 16), Finland (age 16), France (age 16), Germany (age 18), Korea (age 14), Norway (age 16), Russia (age 16), Singapore (age 13), Spain (age 16), Sweden (age 16), United Kingdom (age 16) and United States (age 13) provided that, where a player has not attained the age of legal majority in her or her country of residence, the player has obtained the consent of his or her parent or legal guardian to participation in the Competition.

Electronic Arts Inc. (“EA”) or their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotional agencies, as well as members of their immediate families, are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

In order to participate in the Competition you must own the Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars PC game and have registered it (and yourself as a registered player) on www.ea.com.

You must also:

a. Be an EA member (you can register as an EA member free of charge at www.ea.com);
b. Have agreed to the EA Online Terms and Conditions when you created your EA account; and
c. Be logged in online on Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars to compete

3. How to participate

Participation in the Competition involves playing ranked matches online with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars through our multiplayer system. Your win/loss record and the ranking of the players you play determine your overall ranking on the 1v1 ladder at any given time. The more games that you win, and the higher the rankings of the players you defeat, the higher you will move up the ladder, closer to #1.

To play a match on our 1v1 ranked ladder, you must:

a. Log online to Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars with your EA Membership Online ID. To create a new Online ID, simply type the name that you would like to use and then click “log in”. If the name is not in use, this will become your new Online ID. Remember to always log in with the same Online ID.

b. Select Automatch at the bottom of the screen.

c. Choose 1v1 Ladder from the top drop-down menu.

d. Choose your faction. You may play as any faction for any ranked match. You do not need to select the same faction every time you play.

e. Click Join Game.

f. You will then be prompted while our online servers connect you to another player who is within a range of your current ranking. If you would like to be matched up against anyone on the ladder, no matter what their rank is, then select “widen search” during this process.

g. Once your match is complete you will be brought back to the ladder and faction selection screen. If you wish to play again, simply click “Join Game”.

h. Your ranking on the 1v1 “Solo” ladder is determined by your win/loss record and our “Elo rating points system”.

4. Cheating, Abuse and Disorderly Behavior

Any player may be disqualified immediately from this Competition and, at the discretion of the Promoter, from further EA Online competitions, for any failure to comply with the EA Online Terms or for any cheating, including:

a. using any cheats, hacks or other 3rd party "helper" applications in playing games;

b. intentionally disconnecting from the Internet during any game;

c. colluding with other players in playing games; or

d. taking advantage of known exploits in the game (NB it is the responsibility of players to understand and avoid all current illegal exploits).

Abusive or disorderly behaviour, including any use of harassing, negative, or profane language online, will not be tolerated and will also constitute grounds for immediate disqualification.

5. Winner Selection

The winners of the Competition will be determined through a series of 3 qualification rounds and a season ending online tournament as follows:

# Qualification Round 1 – Sept 24 (1pm EST) to October 22 (1pm EST).

# Qualification Round 2 – Oct 22 (1.01pm EST) to November 19 (1pm EST)

# Qualification Round 3 – November 19 (1.01pm EST) to December 17 (1pm EST)

Season Ending Online Tournament – TBD

* The top eight (8) solo players on the “1v1 Ladder” at the end of Qualification Round (1) and (2) will qualify for the Season Ending Online Tournament.

* The top sixteen (16) solo players on the “1v1 Ladder” at the end of Qualification Round (3) will qualify for the Season Ending Online Tournament.

If a player qualifies twice or more ("Multiple Qualifier), then the next highest ranking player on the “1v1 Ladder” for the Qualification Round in which the Multiple Qualifier earned his or her second and/or third qualification, will qualify for the Season Ending Online Tournament. For example: If the #8 ranked player for Qualification Round 1 was still ranked #8 at the end of the Qualification Round 2, then the #9 ranked player for Qualification Round 2 would qualify for the Season Ending Online Tournament.

Once a player has ranked in the "Top 8" on the 1v1 Ladder for any Qualification Round, they do not need to continue playing or hold their rank in order to stay qualified for the Season Ending Online Tournament by being. However, if a player decides to continue playing and can maintain their “Top 8” ranking for two Qualification Rounds, then they will win a cash prize of $250 U.S dollars. If a player can maintain their “Top 8” ranking for three straight Qualification Rounds, then they will win a further cash prize of $500 U.S dollars. See below for all prize details.

The Online Season Ending Tournament will consist of 32 players and be a single elimination bracketed tournament. Each player will play a “Best of 3” against their opponent. The maps and rules will be designated by the Command & Conquer League team. The first player to win two matches against their opponent will move onto the next bracket. The top two (2) players from the Season Ending Online Tournament will compete for the Championship Match and the Grand Prize for the Competition.

The match rules for the Season Ending Online Tournament will be announced at the beginning of the Season Ending Online Tournament.

6. Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the Grand Finalist, the Runner Up, the Second Runner Up, and the Third Runner Up of the Season Ending Online Tournament as follows:

EDIT:

Hey everyone,

There is a mistake in the legal rules as I did not intend for the Netherlands to be excluded. I will find a way to make this happen, so for all intensive purposes, please go ahead and compete.

Furthermore, aside from the Netherlands, any other countries not on the list will be up for nomination next season. It took a VERY long time getting world wide rules for the countries already on there. We aimed for our top countries. Its incredibly difficult legally to make a competition open world-wide.

So please understand, I will do everything in my power to get the Netherlands on that list, it was not an oversight, its a mistake, i'll take care of it.

2v2 ladder season is on the bubble for next season, we are starting with 1v1. Its tough to do 2v2 when you can't pick your partner. I think that makes fairly logical sense.

I hear you, please understand, doing any competition world-wide legally is the toughest challenge out there. If all governments had the same rules, it'd be easy.
