Definitely one of the lesser known of mythical bests, the basilisk is described as having the head and legs of a rooster, the body of a serpent, and the wings of a bat (although there are wingless varieties). You were the blame of hundreds of thousands of deaths in the middle ages. Your breath and gaze is deadly. Hundreds of basilisk hunts were organized to get rid of you. The hunters would carry mirrors so that, if they encountered a basilisk, they would have it look in the mirror and destroy itself! Weasels were also reputed to be able to kill it, as they could resist it's deadly gaze. It was a potent symbol of death and in some cultures the embodiment of Death himself. In Christianity, the Basilisk was linked with Satan.

@Outrider: Hab grad nachgeguckt... Erinyes sind Furien. Das waren in der Antike Rachegöttinnen, die Menschen für ihre schlechten Taten bestrafen. So gab es eine Furie, die für die Rache für die Erschlagenen zuständig war usw.
Hmm, wenn ich mal die Ergebnisse von beiden Tests zusammenfasse, bin ich ein ewiges Wesen, das sich imemr wieder selbst umbringt und wiederbelebt, eine wunderschöne Melodie singt, aber gleichzeitig all jene in die Hölle hinabstürzt, die sein Rätsel nicht lösen können. MUHAHAHAHAHA! Gefällt mir...gefällt mir wirklich!

Tadaaaa, der Mythologie-Erklärungs-Master ist schon unterwegs.
Gorgon: Die berühmte Medusa war eine Gorgone. Die war halb Frau halb Schlange und konnte alle, die sie anblickten in Stein verwandeln. Es galb glaub ich 3 Gorgonen die alle Töchter von irgend einem Gott waren, aber nur die Medusa war sterblich.
Sind im übrigen sehr hässliche Dinger.

Gryphon: Ein Gryphon ist nix anderes als die englisches Bezeichnung von "Greiff". Dem Fabelwesen, das halb Adler, halb Löwe ist.
