Hey guys,
I'll try and provide a comment on this. On a personal C&C gamer level, I'm saddened that we are not in the World Cyber Games this year. I can tell you with certainty its not because of lack of interest or popularity from WCG or the RTS community or the C&C community (obviously tongue.gif).
It's not my place to get in to deep detail about why Red Alert 3 is not in WCG 2009 to continue the tradition we set forth 2 years ago with C&C 3. I made it a personal mission to get C&C 3 in to WCG, and it worked, and it continued to work with KW last year. This year I went on that renegade mission again, the interest was high across the board and there was definitely a chance of it happening.
Again without getting in to detail, I'll just say that the economic situation in recent times is one of the primary factors why we are not in this year. Its unfortunate, but its the reality and I apologize to everyone who was looking forward to it.
That said, everyone should be looking forward to Ladder Season 3 for Red Alert 3 and Kane's Wrath which I will be having details on shortly. THIS LADDER SEASON is THE C&C tourney to be in. I think the C&C community in general will build a culture and interest around it more than being in WCG. It has more relevance to each of you, and it also provides a much stronger and wider means of entry world-wide. It's OUR official tournament and the stakes will be driven higher once again.
So I ask you not to look at the WCG situation as a negative, consider it a positive to help us ignite the Ladder Season in to something greater and more momentous.
We're also not giving up on the e-sports world, not by a long stretch. There are still other leagues and areas to look in to and I certainly look to our MP and e-sports community to help define the leagues and tournaments you want Red Alert 3 in the most...if not WCG.
This is not the end for C&C and the World Cyber Games.
Would love to hear further opinions on other leagues and tournaments you'd like to see C&C in.
Thanks,
APOC
