I personally am...they have to make money somewayas long as the generals ARE BALANCED because if they are not everyone will leave and I'll just buy a PS4 and this whole thing will crash like a King Raptor to a swarm of quad cannons :P

It should be fine...you get maybe a different aircraft and 10% more air-power but you lose 10% of the ground...It seems fair to me and a good way to monetise.

It will also keep the game 'fresh' as when you're bored you can just buy a new general and play around with him. Skins and cosmetic things are not going to sell enough so I see no problems with paying for Generals...It's the same as LoL yet...because they are not EA no one calls them out.

I already feel like if people lose to a faction they have not bought they will immediately in their ignorance and anger say UNBALANCED! as almost everyone always does...there's not a person on CNC games not complaining about balance constantly. Much easier to complain about balance than improve your game.

I just want to see what people think will be the main form of monetisation IMO only so many fancy tank skins you can sell so I guess. For those against selling Generals can you come up with another idea in which to monetise the game? I would like to hear it...easy to say no, not so easy to come up with alternative arrangements.

I cant speak German, I know this humorous : Top

it depends. i personally dont wanna pay for a game thats imbalanced and broken so as long as they can keep up the balance im playing but i personally wanna unlock everything without paying :)
Maybe im going to buy something when i see that the game deserves it (my perspective).
Like i said in other threads they could try it like dota 2 with streaming tickets or something else. But actually im fine with generals as logn as its possible to balance them.

They shall just copy LoL in terms of money-generating as good as they can while investing ENOUGH in balance, support and such.

Most likely to work.

Skins and cosmetics are selling very well, as can be seen on DotA2 and HoN. Both do not sell the Heroes, only LoL does that.

Well, the problem is, that in most cases, its true. We have seen many C&C Tourneys that has only one faction in the lead. Only mirror matches in quarter-finals...

Have you seen the C&C:TW Ladders? With the Top 100 filled by GDI-players during v1.05, Nod-players during v1.06 and Scrin during v1.09. You cant blame that on low skill.

I am not OK with paying for new generals. The posts above suggest some nice ideas how to make money instead.

I have a an idea of monetizing the game.
Make a box and put it into retail. There can be a digital online purchase as well.
It has to contain a general unlock for all content. I would pay up to 50 Euros for that.

I'm not up for paying for a general in general.
It will cause a lot of drama having "buy or grind" generals:
"WTF you nerfed my general from the cash shop. How dare you.
This will be my last 10 bucks I spent on an EA product ever ('til I buy the next FiFA, NFS, BF4 and all the Bioware stuff)."

"I wish the game wasn't F2P. I wish I could buy it in a shop for about 60€.
Now that it's F2P it has to be fair. I will try and unlock everything instead of paying for it."

Logic.

We're obviously all on the same page. All generals should be balanced against every other general. To me here the question isn't "is EA going to balance the generals?" The much more important question is "are they even able to balance all generals?" !

They promised in the interviews there are literally going to be more and more generals added over time. Lol. EA. Yeah. I totally believe that particularly EA are the right guys to achieve what noone got right ever: Balancing more than 4 factions.

Think. Is anyone going to buy a general whose only difference to the vanilla faction is a 5% buff on air units and a 5% nerf on infantry? I don't hope so.

On skins. RTS is nothing like MOBA. Skins in RTS will never sell as well as skins in MOBA games.

Why not? Imagine a feature which allows to add a clan logo or clan colors on your units or a generator to design your own skins. Okay, it's a bit far thinking from where we are but everyone wants to be "unique and different"..

OFC they are not able to balance all generals if they are going to remove or implement other units, it makes me sad :(

Yes. Up to 60$.
Actually no. Well. Because it says "Free to play".

I bought Minecraft for skins..
So, if there is a really good skin, I'll get it.

Du grlaubst doch nicht das du mit 50€ auch nur annährend hinkommst? World of Tanks will für einen Panzer bis zum 45€, und das die Generäle für CnC als Micro Transactions zu haben sind würde ich mal ganz stark bezweifeln.

All good ideas there is a huge divide between the kind of money those needless things will bring in vs something more relative to gameplay. Let's face only the hardcore fans will be interested in clans and voice packs and we know from COUNTLESS studies that the CASUAL fan makes video games profitable the hardcore fans always add up to about 5-10% and they are not enough to make the game profitable. EA are money whores let's be realistic.

Good idea also but tournaments have got to offer something then dont they? Average gamer is not going to pay to get in a tournament with a few elusive prizes he realistically c

They tried that in Red Alert 3. It has several features similar to SC 2 before SC even came out and still failed in terms of continuous online play. It's time for a change the bane of existence for any CNC fan of the last 10 years has been the lack of players due to everyone over there in whoop whoop fiddling with their peons.

Old hate why cant people see this has already failed, if CNC must truly reign supreme again it must be bold and F2P is bold. Tib Alliances has a million accounts more than all the other CNCS combind at the moment. Too much romanticism of the past

no because it's ridiculous of them to think they can perfectly balance generals and you'll likely be at a disadvantage online unless you have the best general. so at the end of the day it will be pay2win, whether that's their intention or not

The lack of players was due to BETTER rts alternatives. Balanced and diverse races, constant and long time patches, clan support, ingame ladder. Several good features are not enought to outperform the best rts games in history. A fact that the cnc comm seemed to have understood after the 3rd outstanding blizzard rts release in a row, sc2. And yet some of you still prefer unit models over actual gameplay quality.
Blizzard and the fans of good rts games are not to blame in this case, ea and you - the byers of bs - are.

So if the General you start with is best and most powerful it's not P2W?

CNC is the best selling RTS of all time. I agree there are other services that offer alot better integration thats why f2p is happening in the first place. Unit models over gameplay quality what? CNC didn't become the biggest RTS seller by just creating gameplay models drawing a very long bow.

hello i am not happy for paying new generals
That's ok...daresay most will be in that position but I will pay if it offers me value. What's more I dont make my decision based on a preconveived notion I'll see what I can get for my money and then decided

IN LIGHT of recent events we need a North Korean general lmao nutcases:korea
